ls7 will do 7k in stock form, i'm sure it'll go a bit higher but no need since power starts falling past 7k. i'm sure the ls3 will spin up 6500ish, but i dont know for sure.

7620 rpm for the LS3

8250 RPM for the LS7 thanks to its stronger crank and rods.

(RPMxstroke)/6= piston velocity in ft/min

4500 ft/min is the limit for non forged
5500ft/min is the limit on forged.

The weak link in the chain of the LS-7 are the pistons. I not sure I would push them that far.

Well some old bastard driving a new Z, (wait, that would be me) would complain about some piston slap on startup if they used forged slugs or some b.s. like that. They are trying to be all things to all people I guess. I think they should install forged pistons in the crate engine however. I don't push mine much taking it to 7K a few times. You can run out of room real fast if you aren't on your toe's. The thing is an absolute screem to drive and knocks down outstanding fuel mileage as well. Can't wait to get the Chevy 2 running with the extra cubes that it has and it's lighter as well.
