Default ls2 v ls1/ls6 valley cover?

im running a carb on my ls1. i want a smooth valley cover without the ugly ls1 knock sensor holes.

will an ls2 valley cover work? there is one forsale on ebay at the moment but it looks like the ls2 version is extended to cover the oil pressure switch. can i still bolt it to the ls1 and use the pcv provision? its pretty much the same as the ls6 version right?

Well the first thing would be to find out if you plan to run knock sensors or not. The ls2 has provisions to put the knock sensors on each side of the block where the ls1/6 doesn't.

the msd carb ignition has no way of detecting knock. plus with the carb intake anything can get in the knock sensor holes.

The GEN IV cover won't work with the GEN III engines. If you want a completely smooth cover, you'll need to fabricate something - either weld plugs into the cast cover or cut a new one to shape from sheet stock.

easiest way i found is to buy an valley tray lift plate and grind off the welded tabs. i ended up getting a valley tray for carbed motors from wegner motorsports.
