ls3/l92 ??s
ls3/l92 ??s I am currently building a forged 370ci iron block with custom weisco flycut pistons for l92 heads... I was gonna buy the l92 heads but now I am wondering if the ls3 versions would be better, since they have better valves, also do they both have the same exact specs and design.. and also how about the ls3 intake, is it any better than the l76..
was looking at some cams too...I would assume that I could get good results if I picked up a good working cam that the vette guys are using since it's pretty much the same engine, maybe one of the new Lg cams??

The Cylinder head castings are the same. As you heard the intake valves are different. The LS3 intake valves are hollow stem.
Other than a couple of small changes the intakes are the same. There is no performance difference between the two manifolds.

The LS3 does have a nice feature in that it has metal inserts in all the intake manifold bolts. Adds to durability and eliminates overtightening. Cost is the same or should be. If your vendor charges more for one than the other then keep shoping.
Also, if you have a good cam and the heads reworked (increased compression and exhaust runner work is nice) you can use a ported intake manifold to bring the combo up by at least 10rwhp and possibly more with a very nice torque gain in the midrange.
