Your stock heads with the right work will do really well.

If your can have your car down for a while, I would pull the stock heads and send them and have them massaged. If not, just do what JS said. You would make more power with the second option but it will cost more.

+ 1 on the previous reply.

I have ported 6.0 heads on my 402. Ported FAST 90/90 231/237 cam 115 LSA
Dynatech 1 3/4 headers through an "open" Flowmaster 80 catback. Dynoed @ 482 rwhp. 3.42 6 speed and that tuner didn't know WTF he was doing !

Then a Speed Density tune and a S 60 with 3.73's. The Speed Density woke it up and with the lower gear, she really moves now.

The Darts are a nice head but for + - $ 2 K.....

My .02

What it all comes down to is money. The heads are extremely important to making power. Set a budget and the start shopping from there in your price range. It helps to narrow things down a bit. Then dont be affraid to look at used either. A used cheap head had is still just a cheap head, but a used premium head is still a premium head. You can find good deals on used premium heads if your look hard enough.

Lastly I cant stress the money part of it enough. Are you always going to be wondering if you left something on the table if you had spent just a little more. Set a budget and live within it and dont look back.

I say you cannot go wrong with either one of those heads.. Trickflow and AFR are really top notch heads. Trust me I know!!

If you're on a budget, I vote for the PRC Stage 1 243 head. If not, aftermarket.

Being a cam only LS2, I'd get the ported FAST 92mm first.

I run the same Comp cam. I sent my heads, (241 castings), to ET Performance and had the stage 2 cnc work done. 316-241cfm, 2.05"-1.57", Patriot springs, tit retainers, etc...Dynatech 1 3/4"x3" hedders w/ cats and y-pipe, SLP oil pump, sfi balancer, ported t/body, smooth bellows, stock bottom end. A-4 w/Vigilante 4000, DTS Dana 60 w/4.10, Strange driveshaft, (moly front to back), BMR Extreme rear suspension, Strange shocks, ET Streets 325-50-15". A friend did a good tune. Went from 8-teens, 1.8 60' to 7.40's 1.5 60' in 1/8 mile. It's a 2002 SS convertible. Car weighs 3906lbs + 267lb. driver, (yes a whopping 4173lbs). That is 11.0's at 126mph. I would say for $1500.00 to the door for the heads + the cam, this was a good investment. I looked hard at all the other heads. Mr. Briggs @ W2W and Craig @ ET Perf. convinced me to save a grand and the proof's in the puddin'. The car is loaded and I like the air and 12 disc cd changer for a good cruise anywhere. I get 24 mpg. It runs and drives excellent. I do the trifecta- Telegragh Cruise, Woodward Cruise, and Grand Rapids Cruise. This is from Traverse City, Mi. Well over 2000 miles in 3 weeks. I would suggest ET Performance, a sponsor here. This was 3 years ago. There might be something better today!! Make the call.

From experience, do not go the cheap(er) route. I went with stock ported ones on my LS1 and was disappointed. I went with L92s on my 402 and am disappointed. Once I pay of the trans and buy a rearend I am going to go with some ETP or AFRs.

As far as setting a budget goes, it is nice to sit down and look and costs and what not. But it will cost you a lot more to buy a set of heads and then buy another set of heads down the line.

I think if you go with a set of AFR 225s and a Tony Mamo (AFR guy) ported FAST intake and talk to Patrick G on this website make you a custom cam for the heads/mill/gasket/intake/goals you will be extremely satisfied. You should be able to get a healthy amount over 450rwhp with that route.

IF you INSIST on being on a budget, be patient and watch the for sale section. AFRs go up every now and then for good prices. You can also get some 6.0l heads from patriot performance for a nice price.
