Default look at this intake

Looking for some opinion's here.
I am putting a 427 L92 together for Caveman on this board, Well he bought a Intake that was said to be ported by NOT bought from Jeremy Formato, Well i was washing the intake up to install it and saw this

The intire erea is paper thin where the hole is, The hole goes right into the #2 intake runner. Is this going to cause a problem or should this intake be junked?

Is that common when porting the intake, or is that a crappy portjob? Did someone get a little happy with the dremel? I'd junk it, but it may be able to be fixed with a plastic welder.

Caveman............where did you pick up that intake? I too had an LS7 intake ported by Jeremy and he burnt through almost all the injector collars. I questioned him on it and he claimed it was ok since the o-ring's sealed the area. I ran it for quite awhile and it seemed fine but the shotty workmanship wasn't very good for all the money paid. Now with your intake I would be worried. That doesn't look good! Traver

I bought this from a member on here, that said it was ported by Jeremy. We didn't see the problem until Greg started to clean the intake before finishing the motor. Luckily I have a stock L76 intake that I can use for now.
Maybe it can be fixed I dont know.

It can be fixed. 3M makes a plastic adhessive that is as tough as nails that would fix that area. Not sure of the name though? Traver

is there anyone who admits it when the **** up or do a bad job? People make mistakes, but when people deny any wrong doing, especially with evidence to the contrary, shows a real lack of character.

Regarding this intake, did the owner of the intake ty to port it more and botch it, or did the porter do this? Any chance of him owning up to it and replacing it for you, or did you already ask and they weasled out of it?

So someone did a bad job, then tells you "no, pay no attention to that, its fine"?? What the hell is that? Is that what passes for character and reputation in this business?

PM me if you want me to plastic weld it. I can build the material up there and the surrounding area, or if you are going to junk it, I will take it off your hands. No charge, btw.

1) did you or caveman buy it directly from formato?
2) have you spoken to formato before posting this?

i assume you have b/c as a competing business man/shop you would never come on this site and post this without checking first. (since you wouldnt want this done to you).

good luck.

LOL...are you kidding? Thats like a 2 second fix. You know how many times I have blown through stuff not paying attention. Use ZSpar A-788 Splash Zone Compound prefferably. Or use the Moroso AB sticks in jegs or Summit. Or even JB weld for something of that size.

When I was running a solid roller the larger diameter pushrods along with the geometry of the rest of the valve train cause the pushrods to contact the side of the head. I had to clearance them....got a little too crazy on a few and dimpled the intake port area. I used Hysol 2 part epoxy 9309 I think (because I had it handy). Took just a few minutes. to apply and about 10 minutes to shape when it was dry. That intake is no where near junk. If you want to junk it make sure you throw it away in my trashcan..lol.

As for wether Jeremy ported it and busted through...you should probably find out the facts first hand before blaming him. An intake that was bought from someone who said it was ported by someone may or may not be true and someone else may or may not have done additional porting.

And if jeremy DID bust through...that wont be the first time someone has busted through something doing a port job by hand. I have seen many an intake and head porter get compliants from buyers who eventually found an area that was too thin or busted through. Thats the whole reason for CNC. If you determine Jeremy did that...you should probably have the original buyer, along with you contact Jeremy and show him and give Jeremy a chance to fix it or replace it....which I am sure he would gladly do.

This thread seems like an attempt to trash Jeremy more than to ask a serious question. Anyone that knows anything about cars would know that that is a 2 second repair. And if you are certain jeremy did that intake and no one else touched it...you should have gone directly to Jeremy so the sponsor would have his chance to right the wrong.

Greg I am sure you would expect no less of your customers if they uncovered some issue that you were responsable for.

As stated by these 2 posts after mine, i would like to point out that i am not bashing or blaming anybody specific. Just pointing out that it seems people dont own up when they make mistakes, in this case whther it was the original porter who didnt mention it to the original buyer, or the 1 st owner botching it and blaming someone.

Just seems like overall, people dont like admitting mistakes, which i think is very important.

BTW...you can get the Zspar stuff at most Marine Supply places. Companies like Reher Morrison, TEA, MEAUX and most other big head/intake companies will use that stuff for repairs or port shaping or fill ins. That stuff is the ****!
Always gotta have a quart or two on hand!
