Default ls1 timing chain in ls7 block.

What exactly are the problems here?? Does it contact the cover?? Some other kind of clearance issues?? I had a resleeved ls1 block and I switched everything over to a ls7 block when it died on me....

Is there and issue with and LS2/aftermarket single roller in an LS7? I thought just the double roller has issues. I just bought one 5 minutes ago for my LS7 I hope not.

I haven't heard of any issues with the front covers and double rollers unless its a Melling HV oil pump that is used or a 2 piece timing cover is used. Sorry I can't be more help.

I believe the problem lies with the cam gear. The LS1 cam gear doesn't have the half-moon trigger like an LS2 does for the Cam sensor. You will need to use an LS2 cam gear (half-moon for 24X reluctor setup) for your front cover cam sensor to work

Can I buy just the cam gear?? It is still too early to be making phone calls..LOL

I have a really nice timing set and I don't want to sell it, lose money on it and have to buy another one...

I guess the only thing you could do is to call the manufacturer of the timing chain and see if they offer the 24X cam gear. Otherwise you'd have to get another set. I'm using JRP's LS2 timing set, and it is a really nice piece as well.
