Default Cam gear marks and firing order

It looks to me like when the marks on the cam timing gears are aimed at each other during a new chain install, cylinder number 1 is at TDC during valve overlap, whereas cylinder number 6 looks like it's at TDC on the firing stroke. I would have though it would be the other way around. Can anyone confirm? I don't wanna screw something up.
Thanks,
Ken

When the marks are lined up it's firing on #6. This is true for all small and big block chevy.

That's what it looked like to me, but it didn't make sense. Anyway, I'll go with it.
Thanks a lot.

Why doesn't it make any sense?
When both dots are in the 12:00 position, the #1 is at TDC fire position..that's just the way it is.
