IIRC that is a 228/232 on a 111. The lift is 600+ on both sides and I ASSUME it has 2* advance ground in. You will need a stall though

If you really don't wanna stall look at his 220/224 cam. I think he calls it the "torque" cam. IIRC it is on 111 LSA to so it will still have some lope.

i was wanting to go with the streetsweeper, or maybe one from comp close to the streetsweeper. so the streetsweeper will be okay in this goat without a stall in the tranny? also you guys with the streetsweeper or cam close to it please post up a soundclip for me if you would. thanks

Thats my car with pacesetter longtubes, catless mids and the SLP LM1

I love this cam, and even though it doesn't look like it I can get the car to hook so new track times will be coming soon

You'll need a stall though in an auto.

Lopey and choppy idles don't play nice with stock converters. TSP 228R type cams can idle at stock RPM's, which is what you're looking for. Downside is that once tuned, you don't really get much (if any) lope. If the cam is big enough that you need to bump the idle up, you run into problems that can't be solved without a TC or another cam swap, so you're tap dancing on a fine line.

I think if you're going for big and not changing the stall you're not going to achieve your objective. I'd say just go with a 224R if you're wanting a good performance increase and it will still play fairly nice with your stock convertor.

Do headers first, wasting time with a cam and no headers. You will regret your decision doing this route. Headers on the GTO are the foundation to any other mod you will do.

TSP 220R on 112 .581 lift

Bit of a loppy idle no stall great drivability. Great mileage. You'll need tuning for the idle so it doesn't stall. Once tuned will idle lumpily at 550rpm. Works great with the automatic.

I'm an old geezer so I don't even want to hear from you young punks!

i looked at them both found them on texas speed. DUH.... anyways so which one should i go with the 220 or 224? im thinkin the 224 but i have no clue. i want a good lopey idle and good hp gains (not trying to set a dyno record) and not doing a stall. because my pops doesnt want to and i dont want to hear him bitch about the money it would cost. thanks

I think the 224 is the best all around cam you could put in a car and still maintain streetability and the stock convertor

If you are not careful you'll run into the problems I did. worried about over camming,so going too small and end up switching to a larger cam(as I did 5 times) I started with a wimpy 222 cam because I was afraid of how it would drive. when It drove close to stock I went bigger and bigger ect. In my case I had no driving issues ti'll I got to a 244/248 and the issues were not all that bad. I would think a 224/228 cam would be right for you, safe. It will give you the power,Idle and drive around great with a tune. a stall would make your car even more deadley for the stang to deal with. a good stall 3,200 has shown to add up to 5 tenths to a 1/4mi time slip .Also,I would get headers before a cam. the cam will need those headers to make the most power. Don't build your car backwards, simple boltons, headers & exhaust then cam. Goodluck to ya.
