So since I was going the the strongest chain with the best record the C5R comes out on TOP undisputed
Cost and discontinuation are the obvious barriers or the Cloyes IRL chain would be more popular than the IWIS. For what most do, the IWIS is plenty strong and reliable. The Cloyes IRL chain was developed and used for the Olds Aurora IRL engine, it is a stronger chain.

So MY undisputed opinion is, barring the cost difference, the Cloyes IRL is THE best single roller chain, followed by the IWIS C5R, then the IWIS aftermarket

An each is entitled to their undisputed claim hahaha

Im not going to argue with ya but again just cause the links are thicker dont mean its stronger if that were the case than the LS2 would be an awesome chain

From the sound of it looks like you got the right chain off ebay

We're talking about $100 difference for the peice of mind that it can withstand the abuse of a 24 hour endurance race... it's a no brainer.

What are you comparing? The Cloyes is $360 and the IWIS is $140, that's more than $100.

Does the c5r chain from katech come with the crank and cam sprockets? I'm building a ls3 and i need a timing chain with the 2x cam signal on the gear for the ls1 computer. If not is the stock ls1 crank gear and the stock ls2 cam gear strong enough? I was looking at the jP Performance double roller Timing Chain but this thread has made me reconsider my choice. Any suggestions for a guy with my situation?

I was wondering the same thing. Can you use like a Cloyes adj timing gear set or another quality after market set with the C5R chain or do you have to use the stock LS2 set?

No, you have to use stock or other single row gears. You won't have issues with the stock gears.
