Default Dry sleeved allum. Ls2 block by RED ?

What is the safest/largest bore size and stroke that can be fit into this Block for 90% street use 10% track? And what are the cubes based on that bore and stroke?

Thanks Rich

Contact Steve at RED. It depends on which sleeves you get because there are different choices and will dictate how far you can take things.

4.2" is not the safest largest bore you can put in a dry sleeved LS2 block even with Darton LS7 sleeves.

We're going with a 4.130 x 4.250 stroke in a RED sleeved LS2 right now

Chris,

Is the sleeve longer to accomidate the 4.250 stroke or do you get special pistons for it? What are your power expectations from this combo? Do you expect to turn more that 6k rpm with it. I amagine it should have a very broad torque curve. Im not the most educated individual with this stuff, trying to learn and interested in big cube N/A engines.

Thanks Rich

Default RED Sleeved block

I flew out and met Steve @ his shop, top notch !
He mentioned that the max for a dry bore is 4.185, which is what he did for me.
4.2 is the max for the Darton MID wet sleeve. Also the sleeves are longer and he notches them for the rods.

Attached is a couple of pics of the block.

I've put about 2K miles on it (weather sucks in the midwest) and so far 0 problems

Burlington Performance (Kansas City) put together the short block and said that the machine work on the block was excellent.

The sleeves are slightly longer, one of the options with re-sleeving and they are custom Wiseco pistons.

Yes this should spin to 7200 rpm's and we're hoping for as much power as we can get before it runs out of intake.. But going into a car with a heavy rear and twin disk that has a race weight of 4050lbs so it wont be a dyno queen but we hope to see north of 600 with gobs and gobs of torque. (goal was 650)
But as stated there are other options, this is what we went with.

Call Steve at RED like was said because he has some different sleeves and some can go to a bigger bore than others.
