What kind of power should you be seein if you run the texas giant in a 408 with stage 3 317s? I dont mean to hijack but this is the cam that i just put in my 408 and im going to run the 317s for now and step up to the trickflow 235s later this season. Im looking to put down 500+with the 317s on the motor thru a glide. Is this possible?

I have the Thunder racing off the shelf "sTRoker" 248 254 .612" .624" 110LSA they were right on the "lopes hard" aspect of it, It drives like crap no low end, +bucking. but turned 503rwhp at 6900rpm This is no way an optimum cam i would not reccommend it since there are c6's running a smaller cam making over 500rwhp with much better drivability. If the texas giant is near the same grind as the TR stroker than dont do it.

Well i really hope you will owe me $100. With a carb setup and a super victor and a 7531 ignition that is what i hope to do, like i said its thru a glide and a 9 inch... Im shootin for 750 on the n2o. Who knows i guess we will see, this is just a bargan part motor it not a combo that was set out to build. Just some new and used parts from here and ther. Ill have less in the total motor than most guys spend on a 408 shortblock. Anybody got a combo close to this that have some track times?

I was gonna run the Texas Giant, but Erik Koenig, my builder, told me I'd be happier with a Comp 244/248 .612/.615 inmy 408. I don't know if I should be happier but I did a 524/501.It's got low end too 450 rwtq at 3,500rpm.

I'm not sure what the stage 3 means, but normally you want to raise compression-not lower it when building a n/a stroker. 317's are not the best in this application, but what do I know.

Yes, 862 castings, hogged out to 235-240cc by Absolute Speed. Valves are only 2.02/1.57.

I run that cam in my 408 with stage 3 LQ9 heads. Through the TH400 the car put down 500 rwhp and 480 with timing pulled out. On a 250 shot it made 725 rwhp.

Where do you run your car? I might get to see yours when I come up there.

I have relatives in York

Any cam with specs similar to this will require SIGNIFIGANT driveablility tuning. I've built many 400+ cu. in. engines with those cams. With a proper tune, they are in many daily drivers with great results. We normally see 520-540 with the Stroker cams with a decent set of heads and a good tune.
