Bearing Question. Engine builders please...... Ok, have two motor that I am doing, one iron and one aluminum. On the iron block does any body have a part # or know were I can get the loosest bearing? I went though a set of POS Clevites that are supposed to be .001 looser. The best I can get out of them is .0022-24. I am trying to get closer to .0028 with the iron block. I could do .0024 on the alumnum but the iron I plan on pushing to the limits and dont want it to be too tight.
Also the same with the rods, I can only get about .002 on them.
So, my question is does anybody have some part #'s or know who I can talk to to get some bearings that will get me on the loose side?

Those are the bearings I have tried. I have been all over with two sets of them and the that is the best I can get. I have some FM's that I am going to use on the LS2 block, Imight see if I can get those to work a little better with the iron. I am really not happy with the Clevite x bearings, I had to work on the thrust for hours just to get it to fit half *** decent.
I agree .0032-34 is to loose I wouldnt go over .003.
Well, with what I plan on putting this motor through, I dont want the crank to grab any bearings so I want to go on the loose side of the spectrum.

I agree with your philosophy there. I would say that its time to have your crankshaft polished. I wish that there were a better option, but thats about all you have left, it seems like. That is unless you just want to go brand hunting. Trying to obtain oil clearance through bearings is almost always a crap shoot.

Verdad Gallardo Yea, I suppose Ill have to take the crank down and have it polished. I was just seeing if there was a particular brand, it would probably been faster to have a set mailed to me than to take the crank down and have my machine shop polish it. He is really good at what he does but sometimes it take forever to get something done.

You'd be better off having the crank ground and using a std bearing. Polishing for clearance isn't going to be too great for keeping the journal straight and round.
It's pretty typical of a new aftermarket crank to be that tight even with X bearings. It's not necessarily that the clevite's are POS's. I've seen the same thing happen with Speed Pro and Federal Moguls.
