It's a factory warrantied motor, the price doesn't suprise me.

Although, I wouldn't go that route unless I had plenty of money and just wanted a factory style show car.

So does that mean it may be $15,000-$16,000 at some dealers? I thought it originally listed for 28,000-29,000.

Highly unlikely you will see one for that price.

i would just grab the 427 lsx with 8.5:1 cr and boost the **** out of it. and still be more reliable and cheaper then the ls9. i honestly don't know what gm dealers are thinking these days. i went down to my dealer to buy ls7 lifter and he told me they are 89 bucks a piece !!! i can get all 16 of them for 139 bucks from the states.

Might have ya beat. Try asking the dealer for an OEM LS2/LQ9 +.030 overbore piston. I got quoted $325 EACH!!!! That's cast, not forged. Found them for $42 ea. locally.

Wow, the list price on a standard LS2 piston p/n 89017478 lists for $90.98. I am selling them at $68.22ea.

That doesn't even include the factory blower that you find on the ZR1 Vettes equiped with the LS9 motor... WOW, big bucks for just an engine....

LS7 is not as stout a motor as the LS9 so if your boosting for huge power the LS9 is still the better call I would assume?...Does that sound about right?

It is the exact motor that is found in the ZR1. Where did you see that it does not include the factory blower?

ls9 is an ls3 motor with lower cr and a blower(and better valvetrain). the ls3 is a better option for boosted application because it has thicker cylinder walls then the ls7 witch helps to maintain all that pressure that the blower is making. gm was considering the ls7 for the zr1 but they went for the ls3 instead because of the thicker cylinder walls. but then again there are plenty ls7 FI cars running around with not to many problems. lingenfelter is one of them. so if you don't want an lsx motor and you wanna save some money get a built ls3 and boost that.

I highly doubt if someone puts an LS9 into anything but the Vette it was made for....you're not going to pull into a dealership with a blown-up engine and get a new one.

You better know someone really well that works at that dealer to get any warranty help.
