Default Need some input

I bought a brand new bare LS3 block about a year ago with plans to bore and stroke it to a 418 with some sort of FI. Those are still the plans but the build has gone nowhere due to low funds (forged bottom ends aren't cheap). So that is on hold.

I recently got my hands on a LS3/L92 longblock. Since all of the internals are already there, I want to put that in my car for the time being. I definitely want to leave the shortblock alone, but I don't know what direction to go with the top end. If you guys could give me any input whether to go with the LS3/L92 heads or a Trickflow setup it would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking for around 500rwhp and high 400's ft/lbs. Of course more would be better if possible.

If you could provide me with #'s from similar setups that would be great.

Thanks.

Well, if funds are low like you say, and since your power levels are moderate, and easily attainable, pick up a set of CNC L92's from Scroggin already assembled, for what, like $770 or so??? That is CRAZY cheap. With those heads and a cam in teh 23x/24x @ .050 and lower .6xx on a 114LSA and with a L76 intake will make that power all day long....

You can even run stock rockers to save money, so looking at what....@ $1300 for H/C/I? HA!!! That's dirt cheap....

Thanks for the reply.

Funds aren't THAT low. I just don't have the money for a forged bottom end for a 418 plus a good set of heads on top of it. And 500rwhp is just what i'd be hoping for. If a certain setup will make more then I'm all for it.

I appreciate it. Any others?

Nobody can suggest any other combinations?

I've been looking into WCCH working the L92/LS3 heads. Any experience with them?

Default Wcch

He does top notch work as I have a set of his LS7 heads.

I also have a 402 with some ol hand ported 317's. It popped 482 rwhp with a FAST 90/90 and 1 3/4 headers to a 3 1/2 open chamber chokemaster. Oh, 231/237 115LSA cam 3.42 rear M6.

L92's would prolly suit ya fine. Then maybe a ported fast intake?

I would personally run (TEA) Trick Flow 225's with the ported FAST. Then you can run the usual cathedral head cam specs. Just my opinion though.
