Thinking about going bigger this winter, just wondering the weight difference between the LS2 and LQ9 bare blocks. I'll be using my Lunati forged crank and rods. So 402 or 408. New to the Gen IV scene. I'm sure I'll have a million questions later on. Thanks George.

Thank you,Sir. How far can you bore a LS2 to be on the safe side. What's the biggest cubes can I get with my 4.0 crank and 6.125 rods with the LS2.

402???????? Did you possibly mean 408, because an LQ9 with a 4" stroke crank is 402, so you did not increase bore size what so ever, making sure everything is round and boring just a weeeeeeee bit to a 408 is dangerous according to you?, maybe not dangerous but not recommended???????? REALLY??????????? Just a little tiny bore such as that is not advisable, please do tell because your obviously more qualified than me to answer that one for sure!! Not trying to be a "dick" , no pun intended!! just curious because this is one build being considered by me!! or stroking a 4.8 or an aluminum L33 to a 383, but awesome flowing head choices that are not super high dollar are limited in the 3.9 bore arena!!!

The OP asked specifically about the LS2 so I believe that is why SD answered it that way. There are a number of builders that don't like to bore stock sleeves beyond a .010 or .005 cleanup.

As noted by another poster already (shoutout to flyzntn), my answer was in regards to an aluminum LS2 block, not the iron 6.0 which can be bored further than the LS2 block.
