Default 07 5.3 in an 05 gto technical questions

I have an 05 GTO I saved from the junkyard, it was a theft recovery with no driveline
I got a great deal on a 300 mile 07 5.3 block and I want to put it in the gto

so...

I need to pick what heads and cam for it. this is the gen4 block with flat top pistons and a 58t reluctor.

I need to figure out if I can use an ecu from say a 06 vette.... since my gto is 24t reluctor but the 06 vette should be 58t no?

and is it true this block came with 243 heads since it was a flat top piston 5.3 unlike its predecessors with the 53cc heads

appreciate any input...
Mike

Instead of replacing the ECU and harness, look at something like the Lingenfelter TRG-001 (58x To 24x Conversion Module).

Does the 07 5.3L have AFM? If so you'll have to remove it (cam, lifters, oil pump, valley cover) and replace the parts with LS2 style components.
The ecu and harness in the GTO does not have provisions for AFM.

I'm not sure about the heads, someone else will probably chime in shortly on that.

Good luck on the salvaged Goat.

The 05 was a bit of a bastard year. Its ecu was for that year only we used an 05 drive line for a swap we did. Its ecu has an extra connector the 06 vette doesn't but if you get it to work let me know
