Need some advice on a ly6

Question Need some advice on a ly6

I got a short block with 5,000miles and all it needs a piston and maybe a rod. I lookin to put it in my 98 camaro and my question's is can i use 241 heads on the ly6? I am not keeping the vvt so what i do about the timing chain? Were does the oil pressure sensor go on the ly6? I have a cam that i was going to put in my ls1 but will it work (224/230 589/590 114lsa)specs. Is a ls2 conversion kit all i need? What kind of knock sensor do i use? What oil pump?
If do end up boring it over how much do i need to bore out to a 408?

Yes, you can use the 241's on the 6.0 . You will need to use the 6.0 head gaskets. If your going to be in there a double roller timing chain is not that much, get it. The cam is going to be fine, I would mill the heads though to bump the compression. I would run the knock sensors that belong on a LY6. I would go with a ported LS6. I have heard of people using the oil pump that came on the motor but it most of them fail. And to get a 408 you need a 4.030 bore (30 over) with a 4inch stroke on a 3.622 rod(stock).

There was a guy selling LY6 pistons and rods not long ago, not sure where or who he is but search the for sale section.

Keeping the VVT would be easy and probably to your benefit. If you're talking about putting 241 heads on a block that originally had L92 heads (which flow better than the most hogged out ported 241 head) then I'm guessing money is an object. Keep the VVT, get an e38 ECU, swap your old LS1 oil pan, windage tray and pickup tube over, get a L76 intake and you're in business... Still, I'd try to get a pair of L92 heads.. they're just so much better.

and I'm not sure why that guy with the picture of that Vauxhall VXR in his avatar was calling you gay...? That seemed kinda pointless.

oh, and don't bore/stroke it... that also seems pretty pointless. For that kind of money you could super/turbocharge.

I know the vvt would be a benefit but money is a object in this case. It doesnt mean i can do this later on in the future. I know that pointless guy by the way LOL. I will see if i can get my hands on set l92 heads.

yeah, might as well get a set of L92 heads anyway.... just do it, you'll thank yourself later

Should i be worry on the compression ratio being 9.6:1 with that cam? I not lookin to bump the ratio up cause i lookin to boost in the future.
