Default Diamond or Wiseco Pistons on a 416???

Need some pistons for my 416 build. LS3 block, Lunati 4.0 crank and 6.125
rods, 4.070 bore. 11 to 1, 11:5 to 1 compression.
Diamond or Wiseco or some other?
Thanks in advance, fellows.

The Wiseco pistons come with rings, SRP also offer a set for that app. as long as your running N/A they also come with rings and run around $600 for the set.

Yeah, forgot to mention N/A. Not looking to cheap out on the price,
just looking for the best piston. I want bulletproof parts.

I've had great luck with Wiseco pistons and they really know thier stuff when it comes to stroker applications. I run them in my 402 LS2.

That said, I haven't heard any bitching about Dimond pistons.

Either or would be fine, we use Wiesco they offer more features for the money. BUT to address your statement

The parts do not matter, you could use a Scat crank and rods and the cheapest piston you can find. It's who builds it and who tunes it and how it's maintained that determines how good it is and how long it will last.

I went with the wiseco piston. Seemed to be deburred all ready. Huge valve reliefs. Come coated and with rings. Thicker ringland also. I plan on 200 shot on top my 416 l92 combo.

Couldn't agree more, on the builder and tuner and maintance, but the parts do play a big part in the bulid.

Well some parts require more work to fit together than others but that does make them any less or a part as far as durability and strength goes at these levels.

Wiseco is a good bet. I ran diamond before, and upon tear down of the motor, there was decent wear on the bottom of the skirts. The wisecos I have now came with coated skirts for a little more durability.

Ive used diamond's for years and still continue to do so its just a preference i guess.

I do like their new hard anodize coating they offer now its a little pricey but looks to be very durable.

I prefer Wiseco pistons. I have trusted them, but I also have not read too much on Diamond's pistons.

Both brands are great!
I am using Wiseco in my new motor because they made the piston top surface thicker for added nitrous.

Both are great pistons and I use both. If this is an NA only engine I would also consider Mahle motorsports Powerpak. They come with rings and coated skirt also. They are a 4032 alloy, so not as strong as the 2618, but for NA use you aren't going to break either. The 4032 allows you to run less piston to wall clearance and they will last longer and be quieter on cold start up

I run Diamond. The old Diamonds had a short skirt and no coating. The new set came with longer skirts and they are coated. Same price as before. Texas speed hooked me up!

I would do Wiseco next time just to see how good they are. All I hear are good things.

Thanks everyone, I think I'm going with Wiseco. Back in the day (1974) I use to race MX, and always used Wiseco pistons back then.

We offer both options, but we build about 90% of our engines with Wiseco parts. Give us a call we stock tons or Wiseco & offer very very competitve prices!!!
