Default Question about L92/LS3 topend on LQ4.

I'm going to end up running L92 heads and an LS3 intake on my new LQ4 setup, and was wondering if I can use the LS3 fuel rail in my car, or if I need to swap an LS1 fuel rail onto the intake. Also, do I need the same coolant swap lines for an LS6 intake, or can I use the stock LS1 coolant lines? And is there anything else I need to know about using this topend on my motor that's different from using an LS1/LS6 topend?

hey man, it looks like that motor is going to be the same way i bought it. when i bought it from my buddy it had l92 heads and ls3 intake. in my listing it was complete and some guy offered me 2000 dollars for the heads and intake so i sold them to him in a heat beat. Poor Guy... he threw the offer out there LOL.

As far as most of your ?'s im not sure but when i took the intake and heads off it had the ls6 coolant line on there so i would imagine it will need them.

Wow. I'd say you made out like a bandit on that deal. lol. I've been finding L92 heads for around $500-$600. I'm actually buying a set tomorrow for $650 shipped brand new. Just need rockers. And hell, you can get complete intakes with rail and injectors for $350-$400 that are basically brand new. I guess I should've kept the LS6 coolant lines from the LS6 intake I just sold the other day. Oh well, looks like I just have to order the lines again.

im not sure about the fuel rails due to the fact that im using some fast fuel rails but on the coolant line i plan to use the new l92 coolant line its similar to the ls6 except the tube is on the other side... so im sure the ls6 would work great btw i have the ls6 front tubes 35 each brand new and the l92s are 40

The L92 tube might work out better for doing the TB coolant bypass then, so it wouldn't have to go under the bellows then, right? Have any pictures of yours so I can see what it looks like?

Alright. Looking for a few more answers here. Just picked up a complete LS3 intake off eBay, through SLP, for $327. And I'm wondering what to do about a fuel pressure regulator. The LS1 fuel rail has the regulator built into it. But, an LS3 fuel rail doesn't look like it does. So, what will I need to do about that?

Nevermind. After a little research, it seems that it's not a fuel pressure regulator on the fuel crossover line on the LS1 rails, but what is that piece? Is it needed? The fuel pressure regulator is in the tank. So, I should be fine running the LS3 rail, correct?

An LS1 Rail will not bolt onto a LS3 Intake..you will need a LS2/LS3 Rail.
You will have to make it a single line into the Fuel Rails, the 1999-2004 Corvette Filter/Regulator works good for this, that is what I used.

I used the stock LS1 Coolant Tube and I had to notch the Honey Comb on the bottom of the Intake in a couple of places for the Tube.

From my understanding from a little searching lastnight, it seems that the regulator on an LS1 fbody is in the tank, so I shouldnt have to worry about swapping to the Vette filter/regulator, if its already in there. I should just be able to hook up the fuel line to the rail and go. Because its already a single line to the rail anyways, theres no return. You had to run the Vette filter/regulator though, because yours is an LT1 car isnt it, and they dont have returnless fuel systems do they?

Alright. I got everything else figured out now. But, I'm just wondering what to do about a MAP sensor, and throttle cable bracket.

Map Sensor just goes on the front..just extend the wires.

What kind of Throttle Body are you running?

I think extending the Wires and putting the Sensor in the stock location would look alot better..lol

Looks like your on the right path. The thing on the fuel rail everyone thinks is a fuel pressure regulator is really a fuel pulse dampner. Theres no return, it cant be a regulator.

Get a set of LS3/LS3 rails on ebay or new from scoggin dickey.

Ive also done this swap, your stock injectors will most likely be maxed out. FAST has a set of injectors that drop right in, its what Im running myself #30397-8 39lb/hr and #17604-8 is the jumper harness for going from LS1 to LS3 injectors.

If you run your stock LS1 style injectors youll have to make a spacer, like I did when I had LS2 injectors. YOurs will just be a taller spacer for your taller injector.

Which MAP sensor do you plan on using?? The LS1s MAP is the clip on style and the LS3 is the bolt on style...The LS1 is smaller too so you'd have to epoxy it in but companies make adapter harnesses....Just some FYI...hope this helps..

Damn..that's a little much..

The LS1 is a hair smaller, but if you take a couple of thin O-rings and put it on the grommet that comes with the LS1 MAP it snugs right on. Me and a friend did that with his car and it works well.
