2006 GTO LS2 oil pan. It is hitting one of the ARP studs. Some say it is a oil pressure relief valve. Others say it is oil filter bypass valve.
Is it safe to remove it and plug the hole?

Thanks, Ed. Yeah, the studs are in all the way. In actuality, the stud hits withOUT the pan gasket in place. With the gasket in place, we have clearance, but in our "infinite wisdom", we wanted to be sure, so we tried to grind it a little. That's when it self-destructed........lol.
I am still wondering if it would be ok just to leave it out and plug the hole in the pan.

Its the DOD/AFM pressure regulator. Some have plugged it or blocked off the gallery it vents to chase additional oil pressure. Really only necessary with AFM and higher vol oil pump.
