Default VVT removal on L76

I am looking at a L76 6.0 for a carb'd application and was what is involved in removing the VVT.I have searched and not found much information on this.I was planing on a cam swap anyway but is it as simple as swaping cam, cover and gear/chain??

you don't even need to change the cover. change the cam and the sprocket and you are done.

you need to change the cover because non VVT top gear is not as "tall". LS2 cover is needed so cam sensor is close enough to get a signal from the top gear.

It also has Active Fuel Managment,so does this mean I need to change the lifter trays and lifters as well?Any idea how much money is involved in converting to conventional parts?

Need to refresh an old topic !
-Is the cam swap necessary to run the L76 with a carb? I was hoping to wait on funds before cam swap.
- is the oil pump change necessary if swapping oil pan? I read the DOD high volume oil pump will suck the small pan dry.

I ran the OEM cam in my LY6(VVT motor), the correct top cam gear for a single retaining bolt is the only difference, I found mine on an 08 5.3.
my stock 6.0 LY6 w/ vvt removed(but still stock cam), and converted to carb propelled my 67 camaro to a 12.59 @ 109
