Default LS7 valve layout vs LS3/L92 valve layout

How much different are they? The reason I'm asking is for custom pistons for a friends car. He is using LS7 crank and rods in an LS3 block. We wanted to just order LS7 style pistons but with a smaller bore (4.070 vs. 4.125) but we wanted to make sure the valve reliefs would be in the right place for the LS3 heads.

I know with custom pistons we can get whatever we want, but it will make it cheaper if we can order a "shelf" ls7 piston, but in a smaller bore size.

Thx for any information.

Best to seek the wisdom of Brian Nutter at Wiseco Pistons for your answer. Besides the obvious 12º LS7 valve angle vs. the 15º valve angle for the L92's, there are differences in the X and Y axis locations relative to the bore center. Then there are depth differences among various head confugurations. That equals a lot of variables. Start your search with Brian.

Good luck,

Richard
