Default ls2 tach signal

so i have a shift-i led progressive shift light and using a msd tach driver i tapped into the pink 12 volt coil wire in the harness before the coil pack harness all seems to work well at low rpms but higher rpms is all wrong it flutters and and dosnt match the tach in the dash at all is the signal im using wrong and is there a better one

i have the gm performance parts ls2 controler in my car,which is set up for 06 ctsv, i had to put a 5,000 ohm resitor inline for the tach wire .with the autometer tach.
