418 LS3/L92 Offset Rocker Needle bearings everywhere!
XFI Cam, .600 lift, l76 engine with offset rockers. Short block has been upgraded to 418 stroked and bored LS3.
Got a ticking noise on the road, tore the valve covers off at home. 66 of the roller bearings from one offset rocker all in the engine, looks like I'll be practicing counting. I missed the part where GM has refused to redesign the fulcrums during the transition from Gen-III to Gen-IV
Here's my plan-of-attack:
Drop the pan and clean it out, lift the head off and replace the valve that got rubbed the wrong way. Check the valve guide for fit.
New head bolts and a new head gasket are a definite, but here's where I am about the XFI cam. I can pull it and swap to a XE high lift cam, pick up one stock offset rocker, and go with it. Or I can stick with the cam and upgrade to roller rockers.
Also, is it time for an oil pump?
What say you!

Man I would replace the cam it probally scratched or chunked up. I would get a set of rockers and send them to harland and the rebuild them with the locks. I would clean everything and put a new oil pump on just me. Good luck that sucks.
