Default What to build?

Just looking for some opinions on my motor build.

I've got a set of stock ls7 heads with titanium valves and I'm trying to decide on what shortblock to build.

Car is a 99 z28 street car with 4500 stall weighs about 3250.
I'd like a low 10 sec car n/a.

With those heads I would build a big cubed motor, something 427ci or more. For $6000.00 you can get an LSX block and build a big bore 454ci or if you wana stay with the light weight alluminum blocks you can buy a LS7 block and build a 434ci or just buy a LS3 block and build a small bore 427ci. Anyone of these engines would make consideral h.p. and would be a beast in a car!

The cheapest route out of the bunch would be going with a New LS3 block and building a stroker 427ci motor. The problem is going to be that the LS7 heads are built for a 4.125 bore and I believe the biggest bore size you can get out of a LS3 is a 4.080 bore. I would say you would have to run a dome piston to bump the comression up.

Now that u mentioned it, I'm getting a build of a LS3 427 exactly just like mast motorsports but SDPC is doing the build.

I would recommend just getting a LS2-LS3 based stroker motor 402-427ci. For the budget you have, sell those heads and get a set of ported LS3/L76 heads. They would be a better match for those engines. I love the LS7 heads but unless you are building a motor with a 4.125 bore size I would think you would be hurting yourself more using them than using one of the others mentioned. You can contact Shane over at Thunder Racing and have him quote you a price on a built 402ci motor. Here's the link.

Or you can go with one from Texas Speed. They even sell on ebay.
Again if you need anything else hit me up man.

I'm thinking 415ci with an 6.0L iron block with a horsepower range of 550 to 600. With my new job, I don't have enough time to build a complete motor from scratch, perhaps I might just buy a short block.

I'd build a 434ci motor with an LSX block.
