Intake valves are tweaked on that side.

Needs an .080 fly cut. Is that too deep, anyone?

lg motorsports told me my patroit dual valve springs(rated 660.) are to weak that i need the 921's! but you would think if it was a spring problem it wouldn't be 3 pistons in a row, they would be all over?!?!?!? i think

It could be even, or the problem could be sporadic like you have. Do all 8 springs have identical seat pressure at the installed height?

Flycut the pistons and put in 921's or PAC 1521's. Install either to .050 of coil bind. Check your valves and replace if needed. Reinstall and you're good to go. With flycutting, you should be able to mill the heads while they're off for better performance.

Just my $.02

Are those patriot springs really to blame? I've heard scores of good things about them and just picked up a set for my LS3-headed 402 stroker. Should I be re-considering?

I dout its from the springs, they wouldnt just all fail at once. Theres alot of guys running those springs with higher milage and no issues.

this is what happens when you people put a new cam in and don't check PTV clearance. LG motorsports is rediculous for not giving out camshaft specifications too, but that is another issue in itself.

Well, fit and safe might be two different specs....

All it takes is for an agressive cam, with spring rates not quite high enough with a heavy valvetrain and you run the risk of valve float. Now it might not normally be an issue until you put in a cam that is tight on the piston to valve clearance.

Is LG to blame? Maybe, if they sold you the cam and spring package, then their liability would go up in my opinion. If you got the springs elsewhere and they just sold you the cam and said you'd be alright, then you're kind of left to make sure you're double checking everything.

PTV should be checked every time regardless of what some 3rd rate company says. they are there to make money and that's it. do you think they care that this happened? when you call them up and complain or ask for a refund the only thing that will happen is the "tech" on the line will ask you if you measured the appropriate clearances. when you say "no, but the other guy told me it would be fine" guess what? SORRY CHARLIE. chalk it up as a lesson learned.

A degree wheel and a dial indicator arent too big of an investment. Then you'd know exactly what you were installing.

i've never heard of a company not giving out full specs as well as a cam card with their cams until i logged onto this website. the problem is they are catering to the video game generation that wants immediate gratification and sees cars as a bunch of "speed parts" rather than a combination. it is IMPOSSIBLE to create an efficient combo that gets the most for what it is without considering its usage, weight, gearing, tire size, etc etc etc. you can't even begin to properly choose a camshaft without all this information and more. personally i wouldn't even LOOK at a company that doesn't give out specs. even companies that only give out specs @ .050. why are they hiding? let me guess they found the secret magical numbers that make it the fastest car ever and they don't want their competitors to find out their secret ingredient? give me a break.
