Default LS1 to LY6 Swap

So, I spun a bearing in my LS1 and picked up an LY6 block with L92 heads for $250 out of a wrecked and burned Silverado. Water sat in the cylinder long enough for it to need a bore job. Im gonna go .30 over. I'm curious about what all I need to do..What intake will fit in my 1998 z28? Also, what exactly has to be done with the reluctor wheel? I keep finding info that contradicts each other. I'm thinking I will go 11:1 with the new pistons. Does anyone make these? Ross and Keith Black say they will have to build them. Also, I want to run a big cam....anyone have any ideas? HELP!!!

It really depends on what direction and how much you want to spend. For an intake you can use the LS3/L76 intake. It is a direct bolt on, BUT...you have to modify your accessory setup as I believe there are interferences with the throttle body.

As for pistons, anything is really possible...with a custom set. What are your goals? You can mill the heads and flycut, but you may want to order customs with valve reliefs, etc...so you are good to go right off the bat.

How much are you willing to spend? Also, there are reluctor conversion issues that will need to be tackled...not insurmountable but there.

I guess a good place to start are what are your goals?

Thanks,
Dave

My goal is to keep this a budget build. I don't want anything too wild and also don't want to spend a ton of cash. I really just want to know what I need to do to make it work. I'm figuring that I may as well go 11:1 since I have to get new pistons anyways. I would have rather used stock and saved that money but it has to be done. I will get rid of the vvt setup for simplicity sake. I want to use the L92's but don't want to pay a ton for a new intake. This is my first complete LS build and it's all black magic right now! I need to know what I have to do in order for this motor and head setup to bolt in to my Camaro. The reluctor wheel has me confused as does the intake.

I know I'm looking @ a grand on pistons and rings. Plus the bore job and intake. Beyond that, I'm hoping to keep it cheap! Anyone have an intake????

You can pick up an LS3 intake off here for under $200 delivered...it is the FAST intakes that leave ya grabbin' your ***.

The reluctor wheel stuff is a simple adapter harness that allows you to run 58X with the 24X of the original stuff...your Bird in this case.

You may have issues with the accessory set up but you can use the L92s as is and get a better piston to get you to 11:1. Some one else will have to jump in on the accessory drive as I am not 100% sure you will be able to still use the Fbody stuff. I believe you can, but let me do a little digging.

So, I have found a reluctor wheel conversion kit from Lingenfelter for $250. It is supposed to be plug and play according to their tech guy. I have also located an LS3 Intake with injectors locally for $200. The only thing left to figure is the piston set up which I'm working on and the accessories. Also, will my stock LS1 TB bolt right on the LS3 intake? And, most important....Does anyone know about the accessory drive? Will my LS stuff bolt on with no interference?????
