Default Melling Oil Pump

Why the melling pump? I just did a Google check on it and it is described as high volume. standard pressure. I am new to LSX engines and have previous experience with Big Block Chevys.....we always used high pressure, standard volume pumps in stock oil pans to reduce the chance of oil starvation at the pickup and to get a better oil shot to the upper valvetrain. We only used high volume with aftermarket deep pans. So you are saying the high volume Melling on an LSX engine with a stock volume pan is the best setup? Any info backing this up is appreciated because I am getting ready to buy a pump as well...

Sounds like you are safe with the deep pan......I'd still like to know about a high pressure pump option. I like to keep oil up top and I hear a few LSX engines that seeem to tick under the valve covers (like my non-modified 07 Avalanche).

10296 here and the high pressure spring is usually already in the unit. The optional spring (green?) has a standard pressure cutoff.
