Default How much is too much when doing an oversize cam bearing?

I have a 6.0 lq4 block that is at the machine shop right now. It has a spun cam bearing and i'm having trouble resolving the issue.

No one makes an oversize cam bearing for this motor that I have talked to. My machinest called durabond and he spoke with a guy about a bearing they have that isn't an oversize bearing for this motor, but has the same id as what I need. We were looking for a +10 od oversize bearing and the one they had is a +25.

I'm wondering if thats too much to bore out? Will it possibly be problematic? I was at work and never really got the oppurtunity to get the persons opinion working on the block.

Thank you.

Might just be me, but either their website doesnt have much, or I just don't know how to navigate around in it. I couldn't find anything about the bearings. I will be contacting them asap.

Do you by chance know what brand? Talked to durabond and they said they don't make them.

Thanks for the info.. Hopefully I'll have some luck.

Which cam bearings spun? There are 5 or more different sizes of cam bearings based on position.

Second one back from the front. Its .002 bigger than the outside cam bearing that we were hoping would work. It is still perfectly round though.

You can machine it for the same size that goes in the front cam bearing bore and just get that bearing and you will be done. The very latest blocks use an even larger front cam bearing if it still won't clean up.

The ID of all LSx cam bearings is the same so you just have to have the cam bearing bore of #2 bored to that size and use that bearing.

Has anyone tried to hone the bearing bore larger, or is it asking for trouble? I am trying to install my cam now and I get to the 4th bearing from the front and it's really tight. Damn cam is hard to spin. Do I need to buy a new bearing set, or can I make this work?

Could it be the machine shop put the wrong bearing in?
