Does the cam gear you swapped to match what the pcm is looking for? In other words, is it a 4X gear. Here is a picture of one except this is a single bolt gear. You'll notice that it has 4 raised places for the cam sensor to read.

The 2008 Silverado has a 4x camshaft gear with a 58 tooth crankshaft reluctor wheel.
The 2006 GTO has a 1x camshaft gear with a 24 tooth crankshaft reluctor wheel.

Do a search to see if anything can be done to make it work?

k truck still wont start all the parts are good to go.. we broke the pigtail connector for the oil pressure sensor at the back of the valley cover.. would that sensor not reading prevent the truck from starting?

Not sure but I would try it. The older motors from the 90's would start and then shut down if the oil press sender was bad.
