Default 4.8 to 5.3 crank swap?

my brother has a 2007 4.8 silverado (newer style) he wanted to swap out his crank for a 3.62 from a 5.3 or a 6.0. my question is can we use the same rods and pistons? and is it possible to use a crank from say an lq9/4 or an earlier 5.3? i know the motors changed some with the later ls1's just wanted to double check

iv done some research obviously the rods would be longer on the 4.8 to make up for the shorter stroke, but the swap doesnt seem to be worth the trouble. would it just make more sense to swap out the block for an l92 or an lq9?

You can put a 4.0'' stroker crank, but it would still be a small bore.

The only difference in the 4.8 vs 5.3 now is the Rods and crank. The New Gen IV 5.3L have the same flat top pistons as the 4.8L.

To the OP I would just do a 6.0L swap. If its a Gen IV 4.8L motor then you can run the L76 6.0L o even an L92 etc...

would a l76/92 bolt right up? i know some come with fuel management. would those blocks work with the 4.8/5.3 heads and intake?
