Right? People are pissy about them because unlike Callies and Lunati, their 4340 castings from China. Sad as it is though since Eagle used to be all American, the crank and rods I have are doing good and I can't say enough great things about how they're cut. Others will most likely chime in with different opinions though. People I know say that they have no problem pushing them over 900RWHP. 
havent heard much bad about the rods, and some builders complain about the oiling on the eagle cranks. But they make a solid product, and yes there parts are cast in china and machined in US, but callies does same thing with the compstar line and they hold up great as well.

Eagle has strait shot oiling (cheaper to create, but not as good), different than a GM crank.
Eagles are fine if you make sure you get them checked properly and are okay with some minor clean up work on the journals. Very rarely are they okay just to drop in. Not saying it wont work but the bearings are usually to tight.
I had SIR rods that were fine, but the crank was inbetween bearing sizes, it needed machining out of the box.
If I were you, go with Scat. Just about the same price and typically better out of the box.

Yes, here is the story. I had a LS7 built by Texas Speed and Performance. Some how our signals got crossed and the compression got to be 11.4. This would have been okay but it was for a blown motor. I have a Procharger F1A.I was talked into putting a .120 head gasket on it to get the compression down. The pulley was also increased from 4.00 inches to 4.73. (its the biggest pulley I can use without hitting the bracket). The motor feels lazy and I do not like being limited to how much boost I can run. So I really like the ERL blocks, since the motor has low miles on it I thought I would use the crank and rods and get some lower compression piston and fix it the right way. ERL blocks are very good at handling boost that was why I going with them. But I was told by ERL that eagle was cheap and not to use them.

Gotcha. From what I heard ERL makes good stuff and they recommend the best which all in all would be Callies crank plus Oliver rods plus CP Piston or something along the line of that. All in all I see nothing but good comments from people who use Eagle that stay under the 1000 RWHP mark. So go for it I'd say!
