I think especially in an aluminum block, as it warms up, it grows enough to tighten the chain just the right amounyt.

I’ve never run a ls3 gen 3 style spring tensioner. I just lost my 2nd ls3 motor one from a broken spark plug and now because “builder” used a “known” failure part, motor had maybe 10hrs on it.
I wouldn’t run anything but a ls2 style if I were anyone. My .2 cents.
