Valve cover breather problem

Default Valve cover breather problem

I have a 438 LSX. I run a PCV catch can. Here lately it blows smoke from the valve cover breather and drips oil. Any suggestions on what's going on?

after doing a buncha research on PCV systems the overall idea i got was that on cars designed for pcv, breathers are counter productive. on my 402 ill be running a setup like this which has a catch can for the oil vapors (replacing your breather) and it also has a filtered (can) intake side, similar to this:

my old setup (heads/cam 347) had a can and a breather and it burnt oil with and without them; but the can did collect a good amount of oil

I have plugged everything except my valley cover to intake, w/catch can. Should I get a catch can breather out of top of valve cover? Hope not, kinda running out of room. Nice diagram. Trying to keep it simple.

I wouldnt just run the one on the valley cover. I would do a catch can breather like u did on mine. You block off the nipple on the manifold and you run the left and right banks just like the stock system but it goes to the catch can then instead of running back to the intake manifold you run a small filter and let it vent through there too. I never had a mess because the catch can had separated the oil vapors and I never burnt oil either. Just my .02

I was doing some research on this because I installed a catch can on the dirty side (working really good, plenty of oil ) but yet the clean side is really dirty.

Upon search on the vastly informative interjet, some say that if your intake is much of a restriction for your engine, it will suck air from whatever you connect to it...
