Default Whats a rod knock LS2 worth?

I am debating rebuilding the LS2 or going to a LQ4/9 for a Jeep Cj7 project. What should I get for a complete LS2 with a rod knock?

Thanks.

I would not pay more then 200 for a knocking LS2. I as the buyer have no idea if it is just a spun rod bearing, or worst a broken rod that has harmed the block, or a spun main that has damaged the main bearing bore, or a spun cam bearing that has damaged the cam bearing bore, all of which we are talking about best case, bad crank that might be able to be turned, and a bad rod that I would have to replace. Worst case, I would have a junk block and crank.

If it is knocking the buyer is taking a gamble, so I would not pay more then 200.

I would advise to take it apart and define the damage, you will have better luck selling it and getting top dollar.

So the heads, intake, coil packs, accessories, etc. are worth nothing? I don't think so.

I am unclear whether you are buying or selling this motor? If you are selling it of course try to get as much as is feasable. I'd say 750 maxiumum selling and 500 maxiumum buying either way, and your right all that other stuff is worth money, which is why you'd be better off parting those parts out. This is why I ask if your buying or selling. You made it sound like you were buying.....not clear here....

I have the LS2 now... trying to decide if I should rebuild the bottom end or sell it and buy a LQ9 for my use.

maybe this will help. I bought my ls2 for just the block so I sold everything else. I got 450 for the heads, 175 for the intake and rail, 175 for 7 pistons and 8 rods, 25 for the timing chain, 15 for the oil pump, and I still have all the covers, rockers and stands, and crank.

I think you'll probably yield the most $$ with the least work and time by taking it apart and selling the individual parts. I think you could sell it for a quick $750-$1000 as is if you dont want to take it apart.
