Default Cloyes Timing Set ? and LS2 Damper ?

I am looking at the Cloyes Hex-A-Just timing sets and I want to make sure I get the best chain on there...... The part number that I am looking at is 9-3158AZ. Is this the set with the C5R chain?

Also Cloyes list the 9-5491 chain damper.....Is this what i need? I have a ls2 block. I have seen 12588670 ls2 damper before. What is the difference in that and what cloyes has?

thanks

Yes, Yes that is correct lol that is where I looked also. My questions are what is the difference in the cloyes damper and the ls2 12588670? The cloyes damper 9-5491 lookes like an older ls1 damper.

Also, what is the z chain? is it a c5r chain?

According to a non-sponsor website that sells Cloyes part number 9-3158AZ it is the "IWIS C5R Extreme Duty True Roller Chain with .250 Diameter Rollers."

This thread has some info on LS dampners-
https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...n-dampner.html

I could not find any comparison of the Cloyes dampner to the old LS1 dampner.

thanks for the link. Looks like the oder style has a different bolt spacing, but I still wonder what the cloyes damper is.

I think im just going to order the damper from the stealership anyway.

Ok, so the chain is the c5r chain

thanks

Yes, the IWIS chain is the C5R chain. Buy from a reptutable supplier because there are "counterfeits" on the market.
