Default Where is the 27hp come from L92 vs lS3

I have searched, but have been unsuccessful in finding the info.

I know the L92/LS3 share the same head/block castings (minus the hollow valves, etc) and the L92 does not have a forged crank. I know the L92 has 10.5:1 vs the LS3 10.7:1 SCR (likely from different pistons or gaskets between the truck and car engines) and the L92 truck intake vs the higher rpm LS3 intake, and the smaller VVT cam vs the LS3 (same specs as the LS6).

From a slightly higher flowing intake, a slightly larger cam and only 0.2 increase in compression, can that add up to nearly 30hp?

Besides the few things that u already named dont forget about weight and drivetrain loss if u are thinking in terms of dynoing a L92 truck vs a LS3 camaro with a six speed. alot of differences. Just the transmission differences in weight plus converter can cause that 30hp rw loss on a dyno. Maybe more!

That is true, but I was referring to GM's Engine dyno numbers. not accounting for drivetrain loss.

The L92 engine compares closer to the 6.2L L99 AFM/VVT engine used in the automatic Camaros. It's 403hp vs 400 for the L99. The L99 engine has AFM cam with lower lift and less duration than the LS3 plus the L92/L99 pistons have valve reliefs dropping the static compression some vs the LS3.
