I don't see GM forging a crank for this simple motor. There is no need to forge a crank for a truck when the stock cranks that are not forged are doing just fine in trucks and there are guys using stock cranks to 1000 rwhp and they are not forged.

I hope he does. I just think it's a dumb thing to make up a story about and lie on ebay and he seems like an honest dude. I called him and left a message.

Here's the GM spec sheet for the '09 LY6: http://archives.media.gm.com/us/powe...k/09_LY6_n.xls

It was replaced with the L96 for 2010.

AFAIK the only forged, non-dry sump crank GM put in an LSx is the LSA.

So is that nobular iron crank "better" than a regular cast crank?

Nodular iron is pretty much the standard for cast cranks. It's probably been at least 30 years since anyone cast a crank of anything less.

The Marine version of the 2009 LY6 has a cast crank as well

No forging in any truck motors from gm to date in ls motors. The guys info is bunk, some poor schlub is gonna tear the motor apart thinking it can take the abuse
That ends up buying one of those motors. I sell alot of ls motors also but I know what I'm selling. Don't make stuff up to make a quick buck
