370ci LSx--LS3 Top-end--Input needed!
I've finally figured out what I'm doing with the setup for my 98 NBM Z28. I've already started ordering a few things for it. I'm gonna post my parts list below to see what you guys think. Any input is encouraged!
-Used LQ4 Block (already have)
-Stock LQ4 Crank (already have)
-Eagle Rods
-Diamond Pistons (-2cc Flat tops)
-LS3 Heads
-LS3 Intake
-LS2 90mm Throttle Body
-LS2 Timing Set
-LS7 Lifters
-Custom Cam
-ARP Hardware (Head & Main Studs)
-TSP Headers (1-7/8)
-TSP True Duals w/Spintech Pro-Shootout Mufflers
-200 Shot of N20
-Stall Converter (stall depending on cam)
-Built 8.8
-Trans Cooler
-Tubular K-member & Control Arms
-ABS Delete
-New Wheels (15x4/15x10)
I know I'm forgetting a few things, but that's a general idea of what I'm doing. I'm just kinda wondering how long the stock transmission will survive. Planning on going easy on it until I get a built trans. for it.
Lemme know what you guys think..
hivoltagedriver- The -2cc are for the valve reliefs
Cold Zero- The car will be a DD. I don't really see the need for a stroker setup. I feel that the funds needed to buy a new crankshaft could be utilized elsewhere.
I'm looking for enough power to run high 10s on motor and mid-high 9s on the bottle.
I'll be ordering a Performabuilt Lv2 4L60e with a 4000 stall. Followed by a Moser 9" with 3.75 gears and narrowed 3" per side. I'm going for a pro-street look with the car. Deep dish rear wheels and skinnies up front. Car has a 3" fiberglass cowl hood (no centerline) as well.
I know someone that's a dealer in Spohn suspension stuff so that's where all of my suspension components are coming from. I'll be going with all chromemoly peices. Probably just getting the K-member, front control arms, and stuff to compensate for the extra weight on the front end. I'm getting all of the rear suspension with the rear axle when I order it. A Wolfe 6-point bolt in roll bar will also be installed.
I am really gonna need some help with the cam selection. I read through the sticky about the L92/LS3 liking different cams because of the rectangular ports, so I have no clue what to choose on that one... I want something that will work well with a 4k stall converter that has decent drivablilty with good midrange and top end. I don't think I'll really have much need for a lot of low end with the 4k stall. I could be wrong though..
Feel free to enlighten me on anything I may be looking at the wrong way! I'm here to learn

Here is a few pics for those interested...

After reading the cam thread for L92 heads, this cam seems like it could be a good choice. Thunder Racing made 498rwhp with it in a 2010 Camaro. I've attached the dyno graph from the website. It lists the mods done to the test car. Says it had stock longblock and intake, so it won't be that much different than what I'm building. Mine will only be 6 cubes smaller, unless I decide to go to a 4.060 bore. Then it will be like 1 cube difference. I'll be running 1-7/8 headers and 3" true duals with an x-pipe, hi-flo mufflers, and no cats.
What do you guys think?

bonestock 442- Thanks, I'm just anxiously awaiting it to become a reality rather than a list of parts on a website.. lol.
