Different cam for both heads.

RX7= 196mph Na Texas mile
M3= 186 mph Na Mojave Mile

Nothing against LS7 heads I like them but my TFS heads make more TQ

On my turbo car I was using ported ls3 heads and they make very good power boosted. I am now using Mast ls3 heads on my turbo car.
Did you do this test with the motor in two different cars? You are basing this off of a mph obtained in the mile at two different tracks? Two different cars? Two different gears?

Just want to make sure I'm reading this correctly.

I only tried both heads on my RX7. Just showing mph that two cars ran both with TFS heads.

Let's simplify for clarification.

You had the same engine in the RX7 with both the TFS and the LS7 heads. You didn't change anything other than the heads and the cam to match.

You took both heads to the track for testing with the only variable being the heads and the cam.

This correct?

If so, what was the et, mph, DA and raceweight of both heads from your testing?

just curious as to who ported your ls7 heads and if they were factory castings or aftermarket. The port job and valve job makes all the difference in the world on these heads.

I agree, Do not remember the name of the company that ported the heads, it was In LA.

I tried 3 cams with the ls7 heads and made best of 554 rwhp and 495 rwtq.

best with tfs heads 570 rwhp and 530 rwtq.

My friend with his ls7 427 rx7 with ETP ls7 heads made 570 rwhp and 505 rwtq

On road race tires car went 10.8@135mph with ls7

and 10.5@140 with etp heads

This was all done a few years back and I know cams and ls7 porting has improved alot.

Right now I have the TFS heads on a 440 with much smaller cam making 564 rwhp and 532 rwtq in my 1995 BMW M3.

I still think you are comparing numbers under different conditions. Don't get me wrong I have TFS and love them. But I'm all about controlled data. If you went to the dyno and did a baseline then immediately swapped heads and made another baseline that would be credible.

Same with the track. There's no way to run a number at the track and then swap the heads/cam while at the track and run again the same day.

DA plays a huge role in track numbers. Even the dyno flucuates quite a bit based on air temps.

I M O i think those people who put huge splits in ls7 headed cars
a-have poorly ported ls7 heads
b-get way to caught up in the "what everyone else is doing trend /game"
some of the hardest running ls7 headed engines ive seen ,had little to no split cams
theres alot going on and a total correctly designed package will make way more power, than crutching poor cyl heads with extra exh duration
that just costs power by introducing alot of other problems

Since the ls3 head was brought up i had a cnc ls3 on my car and went to trickflow 235. I gained 10hp on top,20hp under the curve and 15 tq all over. Also,my compression was a little lower with the tfs head due to running a thicker gasket. Both heads were 62cc.

I keep telling people over and over again...L92/LS3 heads just don't work!

Very mild build 403 vs 427
