That's a tiny camshaft for 454 cubic inches. That's a good size cam for a stock cubed LS2...so a bigger cam will definitely wake that thing up especially with bigger heads to support it.

Did you read the thread? He is putting on a set of WCCH LS7 heads.

You don't need much cam when using a rectangular port head. Will it make more power with a bigger cam? It might, but why not use what you have and see how it performs?

Look at WKMCD's combo. He has a cam smaller than 1fastxz and look at the power he is making in his sig. 1fastxz has stall, big auto and rear robbing his power and it was a mustang dyno. His mph in the 1/4 will tell the tale of power, not the dyno.

The intakes are also a big part of the problem. Not only do the factory style intakes not flow enough air they do not let you spec the cams you could with carb style intakes. You see guys with carbs and big cams getting another 100 hp out of very similar engine setups. We can't cut holes in all our hoods though.

The intake are the biggest hold back, but the FAST has show that its a little better then the stock one with port work

I'll have My fast ported in the nest few weeks, didn't wont to want for the work when i was putting the car back together

Didn't make it to the track the other day.. but I'm hoping to get to it this week.

So had a good night at the track
air was ok but not to great 70-75deg's, hum was 80-85 %
made 3 passes tonight
10.75 @126 1.58 60'
10.61 @128.18 1.48 60'
10.57 @128.80 1.46 60'
only got three passes in due to a oil leak.... didn't put the vacuum pump back on with the new set up... think it will be going back on this weekend
who ever thought that LS7' don't have bottom end... they are very very wrong

Not to bad for a full body car all 3800 lbs of my DD, with a stock rear end and stock gears, and stock posi
Haven't checked the A/F on the car sense I changed the heads. I know there is still have a lot more in this set up
plus i still can leave harder... the hoosier DR hooked damn good..

So my best with the LS3 heads and cam was a 10.81@ 127 1.50'
and the temp was in the 55-60 deg and hum in the 40-50%

I think there is .2-.3 tenths in this car... I was looking at the log data and I need to wide band this thing. It was running pretty fat and some better gas like 100-104unleaded.. plus get some better weather, wait till we get one of this 52 deg nights with low humidity.

Then I might try to take some weight out the car. Might be able to get 100-150lbs out the car. Add some light weight rims.... Then I'll be chasing some really good numbers....

I don't have breathers from the valve covers, have a lot of crack case pressor
So it looking like the front cover is leaning
I have to get it on a rack to know

Stalled up to 1600-1800 then rolled into it
I can get more out it i stall up to 2200-2400 on one pass but i got out the grove so I had to get out it

So far the just been alittle faster, trying to find the right tire to run on the car
the Drag radials want hold and lower then a 1.45-1.46 60'
i just put the wide band on the car last week, come to find out it is real fat 11.6-11.8 A/F at WOT. So iv been working on the tune when i have time trying to get it up to 12.6-12.8 to make the best power.
but with the a/f at 11.8 the car, it ran a 10.53@129.58 the last time at the track. not to bad id say
have on more track day next wednesday i might try to go with it leaned out some
id like to get 131-133 out the car.

I never really got that mentality.

There are so many engine combinations out there, so many different applications, so many variables and factors that make a car do what it do, why someone wants to keep a cam profile secret is beyond me.

Kudos to 1fastxz for keeping the guy's secret. But, phooey on people that even keep such secrets from the person who they build an engine for (or even possibly lie to them)

(No angst or disrepect to you, 1fastz, just venting about those who are so secretive about things like cam specs. )
