Default Odd design of LS7 connecting rods + bearings

I just noticed the strange design of LS7 connecting rod bearing ends.

Just how exactly are they supposed to prevent the bearings from spinning?

Normal connecting rod big end:

You can see how the bearing tangs on each shell half will lock against the opposite rod half to prevent it from spinning.

LS7 rod:

Here the bearing tangs have nothing at all to lock against. It's as if they are intended to rotate slightly and simply wedge themselves in the slots.
WTF As far as I know ALL LS7 connecting rods are like this.

Has anyone ever seen this on any others connecting rods besides the LS7?

The bearing tangs do not lock the bearings in place and are not responsible for preventing the bearings from spinning. There is a "crush" that keeps the bearings from spinning, which is a result of the bearings having a larger OD than the rod ID.

Tangs dont prevent movement, crush and good oiling does. Tangs are for lateral location.
