opinions needed - LS3 top end build
hey guys Im doing an LS3 top end build on my LS2 GTO in a few months, just finishing the finer details on things and collecting the parts. The car is an 05 A4 with full bolt ons at the moment, it is a DD but I was looking for more power out of it so that lead me to doing this heads/cam build. Im looking for opinions on how you think it'll turn out, power levels to expect and all those kinds of feedback, thanks!
Details and Parts:
Darin Morgan CNC'd LS3 heads(milled .025, stock valves)
Ed Curtis(Flowtech) cam -- 231/235 .65x .65x 113 @ .050
Cometic .045 head gaskets
FTI 3600 stall converter

Have you talked to Darin about this cam? Seems a bit much on the lift. I think you need more exhaust duration for Ls3 heads since they flow sooo good on the intake, at least 10* more than the intake side to compliment the intake flow, according to Comp and many vendors and shops on this site. Just my .02 I think it's been proven that you don't need lots of lift many times before.

yeah I shared the specs with Darin, he said that they should mesh well for my goals and usage. I expressed the concern of high lift to Ed but after sharing emails with him, the cam is designed for LS3 heads with flow numbers and specs similar to mine so I stuck with it, I haven't ordered it yet so its not completely too late...

j/k how you been man?
however i do agree this cam looks a little geared toward an LS2 rather than an LS3.

Ill be giving a EPS and Comp a call just to see what they recommend. Ive been told that the cam will be a torque monster from a couple people, thats a great thing in my book considering the car is a pig lol Ed has a reputation to deliver great cams specced for his customers, and in total fairness, the given specs are just a hair of the info needed to make a guess off of. But thanks for the opinions everyone, I appreciate it!
