The torque falls off earlier in the narrow LSA but the HP doesn't if other supporting mods are there such as intake, other parts of valvetrain etc, right?
I believe a lower LSA's powerband starts earlier and ends earlier. If the higher LSA started earlier and ended later there would be no reason to ever run a low lsa, you would be getting the best of both worlds.

My understanding is that a lower lsa is not ideal for a stock verter because it runs a little choppier and may have a little surge/push on the brakes (as it also probably makes less vacuum at idle). 114 -115 is generally recommended, but I think 113 will still be fine while giving me a little more low end and lope then the 115 version.

It's what I'm hoping for at least. I am a little worried that the powerband will drop off to fast to make use of 3.91 gears that I'm planning. perhaps a intake manifold like the typhoon will help to extend the powerband...what do you guys think?

I think it's doable on stock verter, but I'll want to keep the idle down to lessen brake push

i run a comp cams 224/230 .58x 114 on a stock converter on my 98 a4 z28 and i have no problems with driveability at all...after cam install i picked up 8 tenths with some et streets...im def goin to do a converter this spring, but the stock converter is no problem (other than the fact i have to launch at like 1600 rpm lol), but for street driving its perfect, and that cam loses no low end torque whats so ever...
