Default RHS Block

I do not know if this is in the right place but move it if it needs to be. I finally bought a RHS block to replace the LS7.The LS7 is in my 2001 Corvette procharged F1A. Should I use the extentions were it was changed over to the LS7 from the LS1.I know the RHS block has places to use both LS1 knock sensor location and Cam sensors and the LS3 locations.

I have a 2001 corvette the ls1 was swapped for a LS7. LS7 have the knock sensors on the side of the block and the cam sensor is at the front of the timing cover. The RHS block has provisions for both types( LS1 has knock sensor under valley cover and cam sensor to back of block). So should I go back and use the original location and not use the LS7 extensions?

The simplest would be the RHS front cover with your LS2 sensor that you are using now. The LS1 sensor will not work in the RHS block without special parts and may have clearance issues with certain intakes.

I would use the LS7 style knock sensors, GM must have moved them for a reason.

From what I have researched GM moved them to the side to get rid of false knock.I also seen that its harder to tune with the LS7 knock sensor and easier to use the LS1 sensors but put them on side of block. Tap the block to fit.

If the sensors/connectors are on the sides now, leave them there. The RHS block has a raised cam tunnel so the stock front cover will not work without a mod to move the sensor up. https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...ing-cover.html

COMP/RHS make a cover for the block, that is made specifically for the block. I posted the pic a few posts ago

The knock sensors went on the side of the block for DOD clearance. I normally don't use knock sensors, but always use the one that came with the ecu and mount it where it fits on your particular block.

Cool, I will use the one under the valley pan, since the RHS block has a provision for them and go back to the LS1 sensor.

When you use those knock sensors and the LS1 valley cover you need to tap the oil pressure feed hole at the rear of the block before you assemble the engine.
