Default Help with LSA, ICL

Hey guys, decided to go custom and get what I want. Questions about the LSA and ICL... Lunati is going to do my cam and I want to get this figured out.

What I want is some opinions on LSA and ICL lift is staying lower, I want to have snappy torque and mean idle but not stupid crazy! I dont want a peaky or high rpm cam, what I want is allot of mid range power with a nice snap when you hit the gas at mid rpms. I was think about running the GM ASA cam, I LOVE the sound and it seems to make simular power to what I want but the lift is to low for me.

That cam 226/236 110 but only .525 lift. Does anyone know what the ICL of the ASA cam is?

My Numbers for lunati so far

226/230 110/108 .555/.555 so a little less exhaust duration and a bit more lift. I am thinking this would have a nice lope and the torque would come in fast to get this weight moving.

That cam will suck on an Ls3, just my .02 you need at leat 10* more duration on the exhaust side. The ASA cam would be better IMHO.
Now I don't understand is the above cam a 110 +2* advanced? Making in a 108? Is that what your trying to say? Or is that what you are trying to figure out?

Here are some calculators you can use. Try the ones on the left. Hope that helps?

Ya thats what I am trying to figure out, 110/108 would be +2 advance right... but that make it a 108 though... OK so maybe 112/110 then right, that would make it a 110 with 2 advance then.

SO what do you think of this then, 224/236 112/110, or do I do 110 striaght up? I dont want to much duration... remember I want allot of mid range power and not have to spin this thing much higher. Not looking for max effort right now, just something fun untill I have it paid off then I will get crazy with it.

What if I copy the ASA 226/236 110 stight up and just add the lift to .550 The ASA cam seems to make around 450 to the wheels in a ls3 and has the torque and sound I want but I think it can do better with a little more lift. Plus I can get it ground in a single bolt like the stock ls3 cam.

I would add more intake lift and spread the LSA out more.

What would you run for duration with a 113? Most mild cams I hear on a 113 have a very smooth idle. Thats what I dont want, basicly I want the mild cam but I want some sound too! Most of the mild shelf cams with the lift and duration numbers I want have a smooth idle with the exception of the asa cam, has the idle but not the lift I want.

6 speed with stock 3.42 gears... I dont want a crazy idle thats gonna be crap on the street but I want it to lope some. What would this run like? 226/234 112/110 I want the tight lsa for the fast peak in torque and sound... So basicly I want good strong mid range and it to come in fast, strong and be done by 6200-6300.

Agreed, that 112+2 would get you in the power quicker than a 113 or 114. Id go with that. And since your going in I would suggest a melling or some ported pump, good pushrods, an Ls2 chain dampner and a better timing chain. Just my .02 though. Good luck and keep us posted.

This cam has 6 degrees of overlap, I would use a 113 + 3 lsa and have your tuner set the idle around 700 for a good lope/cam sound.
