Default PCV question

I'm converting my ls1 pcv system to the ls6 style. I already bought the ls6 valley cover - the newest style, and was able to find some brand new valve covers that are supposedly off a 2012 caprice. I've heard that the new pcv systems have an integral valve, but where is it? The driver's side valve cover has a nipple at the back, but it's not a pcv valve, as I've seen in some other valve covers. Should I just run my external pcv valve when I switch valley covers, or is there really an internal pcv valve, in the valley cover or valve covers? Here's a pic of the covers. I don't understand why there is a port on the driver's side cover when running the ls6 style pcv. There's no need for it.
