Default Trying to decide on an oil pan

I need a pan for engine and figured if I'm going to drop some coin I might as well see whats out there besides a stock pan. I don't want none of the remote mount oil filter pans because thats too much of a PITA. I know Holley and Mast make pans but they are retro fit pans. Do they still work in an f-body or just for those year chassis?

There is a GM High Tech Magazine (August 2009) with a Warhawk engine built by Proline using that pan in a 4th Gen.

Based on the fact that it's not a visible part (so it's not going to change the look of the car at all), what would be the advantage of changing from a stock pan that you can buy (cheap) in a junkyard? More oil capacity? Finned for more cooling?

For a driver a stock or Holley pan with a filter on it is a good thing.

For a track car you need more oil controll. The Moroso aluminum pan I have is very nice.

The remote filter adds to the cost but it is worth it in keeping the engine alive

I think you can find a compromise between that though. Good oil control and not have the remote oil filter thing. Is the Mast pan any better?

I really feel the oil path with a pan mounted filter is not optimal.

most pick up tubes are not in the correct position and there is not enough to keep the oil around the pick up.
