so if lets say the car came with a half moon gear and i (ahhh....i mean someone other than me) put on a segmented cam gear this would cause my code. can i just re tune the computer to accept the new segmented cam gear?

i think it was a speed pro double roller timing set it cam with the shims and all seemed nice.

Yes absolutely. We had to go to a single chain on my 427 build because we couldn't get the sensor positioned at the correct depth. Switched to the single and the codes stopped.

the only reason i know is when i ordered mine it was wrong but it was listed under 06 ls2 but after calling the supplier " rhymes with eggs" they told me 06 ls2 vette ls3 truck or trailblazer ss. i said well it doesn't mention that in your fittment app. so what it came down to was swapping it out for the gto chain. sorry but the only way to fix it. now the good news is u prob only have to replace the cam gear if that is good news. I'm suprised it ran!

thanks for the input. im trying to get a hold of a new/correct double half moon ls2 cam gear quick status. trying to decide if its quicker to just pull the motor back out and swap the cam gear or just do it in the car. i already have the trans out so i think im just going to yank the engine real, quick do the swap and drop it back in. got to figure out a way to get the balancer off now that i don't have the trans attached.

im kinda surprised it started and ran as well
