I havent used them at all, but I did notice while looking a week or two ago, that Scat makes an I beam for the LS. You can get it in either 6.100, or 6.125 for just over $300 a set. It would be interesting to hear if anybody has had any experience with those. Eric L

I have the Scat rods. From what the box says. They are damn near the same weight as stock rods...if your looking for light weight, the Scat I beans are not the answer.

I thought the scat rods were 595 grams where the stockers were 650 grams, well, at least for the gen 4 floating pin rods. Im not sure about the early LS1 rods. Thanks, Eric L

The person who started K1 was with one of the known rod companies, went on his own. I bought a set several years back, his dealer advertised USA maufacture, arrived in USA box, etched in rods---Made in China---, they may be good, I can't say as I did not use them- used Manley instead, but that is just me, I think it was another $100 at the time. I just looked at my Scat rods, they are 6.100 length, .927 floating pin and they weigh in right at 600 grams.

The Scat Pro I beam is an excellent rod for the price, you can get them with a ARP2000 bolt upgrade as well. The fasteners will need to be cycled and then the big end honed a little because they are honed with the bolts too loose. The small end bushing is usually on the small side as well with only .0004", I open them to .0008" for wet sump apps. Good rods, I have many sets out in motors.
